This past weekend was the 28th annual Gary Pykare Bass Tournament. This great tournament brings in firefighters from all over the valley along with their friends to fish, have some good eats/beers and to raise money for the cause. That cause benefits Firefighters who are sick with cancer due to working on the job, the same way Gary had passed.
Day one started out with some pretty decent weights across the board and 15lbs was sitting in 1st. With day two up for grabs everyone was ready to bring the heat and make a push for the top spot. Seth Furmanek and Scott Bird new exactly what they were going to do. With about 12lbs after day 1, Furmanek said ” Our game plan was to start off the mornings bed fishing because we knew the wind was going to allow it. The bass were moving up Day 1 and I knew Day 2 was going to be the best opportunity for a big bite.” That couldn’t have been more accurate for these two. According to Seth he caught the 8lber on his first flip to a bed using a Carp Deps 250, then moving in for the bigger girl that was a giant at 10.41lbs. After seeing the 10 which he thought at first was a 7, he tried to fire it up with a 7inch tube and then gave her an air craw, something she could inhale. ” Once I set the hook and I could see she was stripping drag all the way down, I knew she was way bigger than 7″, Furmanek said.
