Another successful event for the kids!
Our 4th Annual Lifted Trucks Charity Tournament is in the books. It was another successful event that raised $11,500 for the kids of The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley. In late October – November can be excellent fishing at Lake Pleasant with some big bags coming to the scales. That did not hold true for this event. This years charity event was a grind for most and even for the top teams. We had 42 boats compete with 21 qualifying to fish on day 2. In order to fish day 2 you needed around 9lbs for your best 5 which shows you how tough the fishing was. After day 1 there were only 10 boats that broke that 10lb mark with Chad Harvey and Cory Sautter coming in with the biggest one day bag of the event, 16.23lbs. They had a 6.77lb kicker and it seemed if you didnt have a decent kicker you were not going to be in contention. Following Harvey and Sautter after Day 1 was Roy Hawk and Mark White with 14.40lbs and in 3rd place was last years champs, Shane Edgar and Ethan Ryan. They came in with 14.07lbs and also had a monster kicker of 6.70lbs.
Day 1 weigh in and raffle
Once the day one weigh in concluded the anglers were able to have some awesome food from one of our partners at the Q Bar & Grill. They came and cooked burgers and dogs for all the anglers and spectators while everyone watched the weigh in and watched the raffle. The raffle has been such a great part of this event that allows everyone in the field a chance to go home with some awesome prizes. We were able to give out a trip to fish Baccarac Lake with Pro Bass Adventures, Liar’s Korner Gift Cards, Daiwa reels, Bajio Sunglasses, Ceramic coating detail, tackle packages, and much more. Bling Sauce was also on site with their big trailer handing out free samples to the anglers including their new glass sauce which was also included in the raffle.
Day 2 – The final day
Our final day of the Lifted Trucks event was a shoot out. Day 1 leaders Chad and Cory came in with a decent bag but could not replicate their big bag they had on the first day. They ended finishing in 3rd place with 24.56lbs. Seth Furmanek and Robert Kettner came in with a good bag that jumped them up the leader board a few spots and got them a 2nd place finish and they took home a good check of $4,000. Roy Hawk and Mark White stayed consistent through both days and took the win with another great bag and a two day total of 27.50 on a stingy Lake Pleasant. Roy had a few things to say after the event. ” What an awesome tournament! We all won with this event, free food, great raffle, great payout and the best of all raising money for the Boys and Girls Club. Being able to do that doing what we love to do is awesome. Overall fishing was good to fair. Practice we focused on the creeks catching around 12 bass. Day 1 we caught a limit fairly quick but not much weight. We made a move and then started upgrading. Most of our fish being caught crankbaits and a good one on a texas rig. Day 2 was much slower, having only keepers at 1pm. We got fortunate and caught a 3lber and a 4lber in the last hour, one on a texas rig the other on a crankbait. Overall it was a great tournament. It was great to see so many old friends and we are already looking forward to next year.”
